Edward Harake, a shareholder and board member of Automotive Parts Associates (APA), has recently been selected to serve on the Government Affairs Committee of the Auto Care Association. This committee plays a crucial role in working closely with association staff to develop and implement legislative and regulatory strategies, aiming to protect and promote the automotive aftermarket industry both nationally and globally. A key focus of the committee is to monitor and evaluate laws that could affect or be of interest to the industry. Additionally, the committee actively engages in educating everyone from suppliers and vendors to members of Congress on pertinent issues.

When asked why he wanted to join the committee, Edward responded, “Small business owners make up an important part of the automotive industry, and when I looked at members of the committee, I didn’t see anyone there that represented small business owners. I am honored to have been selected for the committee and consider it a huge opportunity and privilege to speak on behalf of small business owners.”

In addition to being an APA shareholder and board member, Edward is the president of Value Plus Auto Parts Wholesale in Westland, Michigan. They have been supplying auto parts to commercial businesses and end users since 1997.

“We have a voice in Edward,” said Steve Tucker, President of APA. “He now speaks for his fellow shareholders and TruStar members that are small business owners, as well as the many other small business owners in this industry. He will be a great asset to the committee and will bring an important perspective. We are very proud of him!”
